Hyoung Suk Suh, Ph.D.

Dr. Hyoung Suk Suh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Before joining CWRU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University. He completed his Ph.D. (2022) also from Columbia University, and received his B.S. (2015) and M.S. (2017) degrees from Yonsei University, South Korea. Hyoung Suk studies the mechanics of porous materials, otherwise known as poromechanics. He works mainly with geological materials, seeking understanding of the characteristics and behaviors of soils and rocks. This includes energy-related research with special attention to sustainability and net zero carbon emissions.
